i went thrifting again. passed by the Salvation Army on my home from a doctor's appointment a couple of weeks ago and decided to pop in to see what they were up to.
it was half-off white tags that day. can you guess which piece i bought?!
ding ding ding ding ding! if you said the top - you're a winner!
denim top | 2.15 (Salvation Army)
just like i was on the prowl for a pussybow blouse, my second mission was all about bringing home a blue jean over shirt.
denim is a neutral, and tops - both short and long sleeved - can be worn with everything imaginable.
confession: this one is maternity. i tried it on in the store, but didn't realize it until i got home and put it in the wash. says maternity right on the label.
the fact that it's a little longer in the front makes knotting it so much easier.
this peasant skirt, now fashionably known as a tiered maxi skirt is an antique. i think i even remember my mama saying it was once called a broomstick skirt. proving that what's old is sure to be new again.
i have two more outfits in the works wearing my latest second-hand find. one of them happens to be a celebrity inspired recreation.
money-saving style tip: if you strike out in search of a specific piece, be open to returning with a comparable substitute. have similar alternatives in mind in case you don't find exactly what you're looking for. that way, your time shopping wasn't wasted.

are you feeling the boho vibe or is it a look you can pass up?!
Ms. Donna, you are constantly birthing beautiful blogs. May you stay fashionably "bare foot & pregnant" with ideas. Love ya! wsa
ReplyDeleteooooh, that was really bad.
thank you, my dear! and because i have a sense of humor - i know exactly where you're coming from with that statement. having your support makes it all possible.
DeleteGreat look! I tried on the shorter version of one of these skirts yesterday (I like the long one better). I've been worried about my hips/butt looking wider...yes, my true concern:-(
ReplyDeletegirl - we had this hip/butt discussion over on Facebook!
Deletei'm fairly wide myself, but i don't feel like i need an "oversized load" warning when i wear this skirt. i usually put it on with layered tanks (fitted so they accentuate my waist) and i end up getting lots of compliments. i think the shorter version would add volume to my hips.
thanks for stopping by!
I love this look and you did so well. $2.15! Oh my! I am a big thrifter too! I can't hardly drive past a salvation army or a goodwill without stopping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out and retweet on twitter. I had to come by and say hello!
Hillery
